Ooops!! Unfortunatly, i did made an error on the previous post!!

But the good news is:

I'M COMING BACK TO SPORE AGAIN!!! Arriving Singapore on the 28th March and flying back to Perth on 11th April!
In between, i'll be going on the Super Star Virgo on 29th March to 1st April.

SO EVERYONE, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN ALRIGHT!! Mike will be coming along with me on this trip too! Therefore time will be tight!! Hopefully i can arrange some sort of BBQ or chalet, i do seriously wanna meet up with my high school mates, nursing friends, relatives and even some primary school pals!!! Will update with more infos when i manage to plan something out!!!

Oh well, so i'm pretty much counting down to this trip already. Not long more to go i can say.. Hmmm, 4 more weeks to go. Of course i'm excited, but not as thrilled i suppose since it was just december that i went back there! But because Mike and I need to clear our ALs and he's pretty much saving up for his house. So we just gotta put the plan of travelling to somewhere farther till next year. And also, i'm planning to travel with the bff to gold coast later on this half of the year. so yeaaaa.... hopefully everything works out well!!!

My brother has been a huge influence in my life. As much as how our characters are the complete opposite of each other, it’s still pretty amazing we have certain liking in common. Take for example, Broadway musical.

As early as the 1990s when CATS was playing, my brother exposed me to their hit track, Memory. And boy do I love it! I guess that’s when I grew to like Broadway musical. And soon, I quickly loved Phantom of the Opera when he was like literally playing the CD on repeat every time I was in his car. Was such a shame when the Phantom of the Opera came to Singapore I wasn’t around. But guess what, I finally caught it today when the Phantom of the Opera is in Perth!!!!

Waiting for the show to start!

1 and a half hour into the show!

It was such an awesome show!!
Too bad the BF missed out! Well, he rejected my offer because he’s not a musical fan- said him. But! Whatever, went on a date with Henry, Jenny and Des instead! Pity those guys as they didn’t have a clue what was happening and the opera singing doesn’t really help much at all. But thanks god I’ve catch the movie before so I kinda know what’s happening on each act and man I reckon it’s way better than the movie!! So worth it!!! And the production was so good too!!

OH NO!!!
screams!!

I just found out that CATS is playing in Singapore!!!!! From 10th April – 3rd May 2009!! This sucks!!! Because I’m having plans to go back to Singapore from the 27th March to 5th May!! OMG, COLLASPE!!

Sometimes, certain good news comes in a shock.

I thought I would have been able to deal with it better since it’s not the same time I heard of such stories. But still, I cant believe one of my close friend is going to get married soon and the deal is, she’s 2 months pregnant! Yes, I’m happy for her- but I guess everyone has their opinion whether you like it or not. And yes, as much as I respect her decision, I guess deep in our heart we think she deserve better.

So today was the “meet the parents” session.

Of course the extra get to go lah! Hehehe.

BTW, dont anyhow think who is the "soon to be mum and bride" ok!!!

And guess what! I came across this news today!!

A BABY-FACED 13-year-old British schoolboy has fathered a child with his 15-year-old girlfriend, making him one of the youngest parents ever in Britain.

Alfie Patten, whose voice has not yet broken, admitted he had not thought about how he and girlfriend Chantelle Steadman would support baby daughter Maisie Roxanne, as ``I don't really get pocket money''.
``When my mum found out, I thought I was going to get in trouble,'' said the teenager, pictured on the front page of the Sun tabloid with the baby, born in Eastbourne, southern England on Monday.

Alfie's dad Dennis, 45, said his son - who looks younger than his age and is just four feet (1.22 metres) tall - was fully committed to his new paternal role.

The baby, who weighed in at seven pounds and three ounces (3.27kg) when she was born Monday, was conceived after just one night of unprotected sex, the paper said. Alfie was 12 years old at the time.

OMFG!
Can someone tell me what is wrong with this world?!? Seriously, I’m so disgusted and sick! What happen to the innocence in children?! Well, I know accident do happen sometime but this sort of mistake from a child is totally unacceptable!

A couple of days ago when I finished my afternoon shift, Mike picked me up from work.
In the car, for the first time, he sounded concern over my BFF.

That’s when I got the news about the Victoria Bushfire.
And obviously, the BFF is fine lah! A quote from his sms- “If the fire reaches him, the whole of Melbourne would be gone!”. And noooo!! I don’t want that to happen of course! I still wanna go back to Melbourne one day!! At least Melbourne is paradise compared to Perth.

In that case, I guess everyone would have known or at least heard about the worst bushfire disaster over at the state of Victoria in Australia by now hey?

Interestingly, it got the whole family talking about it and Kel stunned me with this question:

What would you take along with you if the bushfire is 200m away from our house?

So my answer was that I’m gonna take my passport just for the sake of my identity and run out of the house and help anyone else out of the bushfire lor.

Obviously Kel wasn’t really impressed with the answer and said about the fire is still 200m away and I can take more stuff with me blah.

So fine, my final answer is this: I’m gonna take my bag (which includes all my daily barangs inside- ipod, hp, wallet, sunnies, ds lite, organiser.), throw whatever I see into it (in that case most prolly would be the makeup bag, parfum, $$). And of course I’ll carry my lappie and take all my valuable items (all the Gucci, LV, TIFF & Co lol) and grab a few clothes and maybe shoes.

Guess what Kel said?
“You not gonna take your photos meh? You have so many of them on the walls. And BTW, mum said in her case, she will grab the photos collage off the wall”

Laugh at Kel. Well, this is how big Shirley’s collage is:

Of course in Shirley’s case that piece of work is valuable to her as she puts in her heart and soul to it just to regularly develop the photos and update them- sometimes putting up our ugliest photos too for the sake of art!

So what would you take along with you if the bushfire is 200m away from your house?

The bushfire has so far taken away hundreds lives and homes and leaving those left behind homeless.
And you know what, I have never imagine how scary a bushfire is. Well, I guess coming from Singapore, we’re used to staying in an apartment. And in any case if a fire breaks out, you know you are still left with a home. It might be all dirty and stinking and nothing might be left but there is still a roof over your head. A shelter for the family to return and rebuild their house. But after staying over here for close to 2 years, I can totally understand how devastating this catastrophe is. Having your house wipe out from the bushfire, and seeing nothing is left behind. Omg, that is haunting!

So let’s say a prayer tonight and be blessed that we still have a roof over our head!
Dont forget to do your part for the Austalian Red Cross too!!

So how often exactly should a couple go on a date hey?

As much as i wanna go dating with the BF, sometimes the thought that i'm in Perth and there's pretty much NOTHING EXCITING OVER HERE just makes me dread thinking of places to hang out. So besides the rare occasion that there is something happening or we planned something, our usual couple thingy is to just hang out and rot. Not that i'm complaining, but sometimes it does feels a lil deprived being in Perth! OH SHRUGS!

So of course i was jumping in joy when Mike told me that we are going to Calvin's birthday party at the Brisbane Hotel! HOrray! Been ages since i last went there or should i say out pubbing! HAHAHA.

So after Saturday's CNY dinner at one of the uncle's place, Me and Mike went out on a date! Although the whole scence was filled with lots of socialites, i guess Me and Mike just couldnt care less about it and just had a couple of drinks ourselves and catching up.

That reminds me that Valentine's Day is coming!!! OMG, WHAT TO DO!

A few days back, I was thinking if I can ever find an occasion to open up my bottle of white wine- courtesy of the hospital during the xmas period. My lady boss caught me by surprise when she pulled me to her office the other day and guess what!

She handed me another bottle of white! This time it’s to celebrate my completion of the 1st year grad!!

Can’t believe I have worked here for a year already and has lived to survive the second floor madness! How quick has a year gone and next week we’re having new grads on our ward! I still can remember how naïve I was when I first applied for my job. Well, it was a last minute thingy as back then I dun really have a clue of what I want to do after my degree. So I thought it might be a good idea to just take the chance to work in a different country. Never did I expect that things would be so different from back home!! I still can remember how I got a shock when I first found out that Hypocount over here is called BSL (Blood Sugar Level). That’s the first time that I realised that OMG, I should have thought about all these differences when I applied for my job! How could I have not thought or suspected that things might be different back home from over here! Told you I was naïve!! But thankfully I managed to adapt to the work here quickly!

Guess it has been a great experience! Looking back, I haven’t got much experience in nursing at all after my dip in NYP. My so called nursing skills are all from the hospital practs and even though I was working in SNEC for a while before flying over to Perth, that wasn’t even counted as Florence nightingale’s sort of nursing, because it’s a totally different field of nursing! So it’s pretty amazing how I’ve managed to survived a year of surgical nursing because I totally have no hospital nursing experiences prior before!!

At this point of time, I’m pretty much in my comfort zone at my field of work. I have totally forgotten how it used to be like working in Singapore – more like I have only vividly images, memories of how Singapore’s hospitals are functioning like. Pardon me, but I seriously don’t recall how my RNs used to work in the wards in Singapore etc. IF ONE DAY I DO HAVE TO GO BACK TO WORK, I GUESS I WOULD BE A NOOB! As far as I know, I enjoy working over here despite many facts that I miss spore! But if you would to say to consider working here or back home, I would definitely say here would be a better place to work. I might be bias but that’s how I truly feel- FOR NOW.

Over here, RNs are all university gradates which means your patients seriously respect you big time for all knowledge. Whereas spore, sorry to say, but I guess it’s still the old fashion way of thinking that nurses are the doctors hand maiden and is not much respected. I guess salary wise and labour wise has proven my point here.

Well, I work in a lovely private hospital surgical ward (over here, it means that only if you have private insurance to cover your funds, you can seek treatment in a private hospital, if not you go to a government hospital) so I mainly take care of patients with elective surgeries instead of emergency surgeries, one good examples would be half a ward full of lap banding/ lap sleeve gastrectomy patients. But we do get our fair load of ICU transfer patients too. I guess that makes the nature of our ward a really high intensive paced and busy one which I totally loved it! Day goes by quicker when you are busy! As for now, I have not decided which field I really want to specialise in, therefore I’m happy to just stick to my surgical nursing. OH SHIT! That reminds me I have to meet lady boss and the area managers to discuss what I want to do for this year and talks about my plans and all this coming few weeks! SHRUGS! I hate caregiver developing plans!

Anyhow, back to my work. My ward is comprised of 30 single bedrooms. Shifts for us are 0700-1430, 1400-2130, 2100-0730. Usually we have 6-7 staffs on, which includes CNs, RNs and ENs. Within that 6-7 staffs, we work in teams of 2 taking care of 10 patients together. So I might be partner with either of which. Dunno about the ENs in spore, but over here, most of our ENs can give medication which includes IM injections too, just not DD drugs or IV that’s all! And they can basically do what we RNs can do, dressings, notes and all. So yea, there’s no such thing like only the RNs have to write notes or follow up with the Drs. And best of all, to protect Pt’s confidentiality we do tape recording for hand over, as much as I hate listening to myself accidentally on tape sometimes, I think it’s a good idea as it avoids bed side handing over, it also allows sufficient staffs to be on the ward answering calls bells etc during the handing over time. I guess maybe it’s because I’m working in a private we don’t have a drs that’s with us all the time in the ward or even on call drs. That’s why I guess it makes me grow in my nursing knowledge as I have to use critical thinking all the time. I can order blood test for patients, following up blood result or reports and informing the consultants most of the time etc. I really liked this independence which I guess spore could never offered me! But like I say, I might be bias in my words as I have not worked in any hospital in spore before. But if one day I go back and work, I am actually looking forward to making a different!

I guess I loved my work to bits to even have such a long naggy blog about it! Haha. How extreme! Oh well, to be honest, one part of me wanting to continue staying over here is my job satisfaction. At times like these, I guess we cant complain about our job can we? Thanks god I’m in nursing!
hehehe.

Last week has gone off quick! It was a pretty awesome week as Mike took a week off and was able to be with me for most of the time. So I have nothing to complain about! Haha. And CNY parties are coming to an end as most of the relatives have finished hosting their own party. So I’m glad to say I’ve survived yet another CNY! yiPeee!! One more family dinner on this coming sat and we’re all done!

Went over to the Hilarys last sat to celebrate our 13th month anniversary. Thanks to the BF I would say. Willing to drive down that far in that freaking 36 degree celcius HOT weather and worst of all, with no car available, he droved his dad car instead, which even with the air cooler on it feels like a oven in there. Poor baby! But still we’ve made it and went to try our luck at Hippo Creek (it is always book out! And I heard you need to wait very long for the booking list). And seriously, Hippo Creek is definitely worth the wait! I totally dig it despite coming back with a lil shade of tan!

Hippo Creek at the boat harbour.
